How it works
A small solenoid (Bosch has a code for its dispenser solenoid) or a wax actuator releases a latch, and a spring flips the lid open so the spray can wash the detergent out. The rinse aid side releases a measured squirt during the final rinse.
Signs it is failing
- Detergent pod or powder still sitting in the cup after the cycle
- A lid that won't latch shut
- A cracked lid or broken spring
- A drip from the dispenser area of the inner door
- Dishes coming out dull or spotty
Dispenser faults rarely throw their own code, but they explain a lot of poor-cleaning and drying complaints.
Can you replace it yourself?
Make sure a tall plate or pan handle isn't blocking the lid from opening. The dispenser is held to the inner door panel with screws reached from inside the door, which means turning off power and removing the outer door panel.
Buying the right part
If several pieces are worn, RepairClinic suggests replacing the whole dispenser rather than chasing a single spring or lever. Order the OEM part by full model number.
