How it works

On door-mounted displays the board sends your settings to the main board over a data line through the door hinge and gets temperature and status back.

Signs it is failing

Communication codes can involve this board, the main board or the harness at the door hinge. A power cycle clears many of them.

Can you replace it yourself?

Cut power for a minute and restore it. Check for demo or lock mode; LG's demo mode even shuts off cooling. The board comes out with screws and plug-in connectors, but Family Hub screens are a service job.

Always unplug the refrigerator or switch off its breaker before opening any panel, and turn off water or gas where relevant.

Buying the right part

Match the color and model number exactly. Family Hub parts are pricey, so confirm warranty first.
