Bosch Washer E33 / F33 Error Code

Too much suds. Here is what it means and how to clear it, easiest fix first.

E33 / F33
Easy DIY fix

The washer has detected too much foam in the drum, usually because too much detergent was used for the load. Heavy suds can keep the washer from rinsing and spinning properly.

Some models show a soap-bubble icon instead of a code for the same problem. Listed on Bosch's US support site; Bosch models sold in the UK and Europe may use a different code, so check your manual.

Safety first: unplug the washer (or switch off its breaker) before touching filters, hoses or panels. If you smell burning or gas, or see water near the outlet, stop and call a professional.

How to fix Bosch E33 / F33

  1. Knock the suds down

For the soap-bubble warning, Bosch's fix is to stir 1 tablespoon of fabric softener into about 2 cups (0.5 L) of water and pour it into compartment II of the detergent drawer. Do not do this with outdoor gear, sportswear or down-filled items, because softener can damage them.

  2. Use less detergent

Next time, follow the dosing guide on the detergent package and use less for small or lightly soiled loads or soft water. Use HE (high-efficiency) detergent, which is made for front-loaders.

When to call a technician

If the code shows up even with correct dosing, have a technician check the pressure sensor and drain system.
