Frigidaire Refrigerator DI SP / DISP Error Code

Ice jammed in the dispenser. Here is what it means and how to clear it, easiest fix first.

DI SP / DISP
Easy DIY fix

Ice is stuck in the dispenser chute, and the alarm sounds once a cube has been jammed for a while. Ice that melts and refreezes around the auger is a common cause, often from infrequent use, temperature swings, or power outages. Cubes wedged between the icemaker and the back of the bin can also cause it.

May appear as DI SP or DISP.

Safety first: unplug the refrigerator (or switch off its breaker) before touching filters, hoses or panels. If you smell burning or gas, or see water near the outlet, stop and call a professional.

How to fix Frigidaire DI SP / DISP

  1. Clear the chute

Open the freezer door (or unplug the refrigerator) so the dispenser can't run, then look into the ice chute and remove any cubes blocking it by hand. Don't use a knife, screwdriver, or other sharp tool.

  2. Empty and thaw the ice bin

If ice has fused into clumps, remove the bin and let the ice melt in a sink. Don't try to break it up with a sharp object or melt it with hot water while the bin is in the refrigerator.

  3. Clean, dry, and refit the bin

Wash and dry the bin completely, then slide it back in until it seats properly. The dispenser should work again once the icemaker refills it.

  4. Clear the code

Press Clear Alerts if you have it. Otherwise unplug the refrigerator for 30 seconds and plug it back in, or flip its breaker if you can't reach the plug.

When to call a technician

If the jam keeps returning with a clean, properly seated bin, contact your installer (first 30 days) or Frigidaire service.
