OF OF, O FF or OFF OFF means the refrigerator is in Cooling Off mode, the showroom setting that keeps the lights and display working but switches off cooling. Nothing is broken, but food will spoil if the fridge is left this way. It often appears on a newly delivered unit or after buttons were pressed by accident.

How to fix Samsung OF OF

  1. Hold the top two buttons

    On a standard button panel, press and hold the top two buttons on the left side together for about 5 to 8 seconds, until you hear a chime. The OF OF text should clear within a few seconds and the temperatures should reappear.

  2. Try the three-button combination

    If nothing changes, press and hold those same two buttons together with the top button on the right (called button 4 on some panels) until the chime sounds. Samsung suggests trying the two-button method first, because the three-button combination can also switch Cooling Off on. Repeat once if the mode comes back.

  3. Use the Bespoke or Family Hub method

    On Bespoke panels, hold the < and > buttons together for about six seconds, then press the O button. On Family Hub models, open Apps, then Fridge Manager, then Fridge Settings, tap Cooling Off, choose Deactivate and confirm with Proceed.

  4. Give it time to cool

    Keep food in a cooler until the fridge has had a few hours to come down to temperature. Check with an appliance thermometer that the fresh food side is at or below 40°F (4°C) before restocking.
