Gree Air Conditioner E6 Error Code
Indoor and outdoor units can't communicate on Gree air conditioners.
GreeAll Gree air conditioner codes
The indoor and outdoor units lost their data link. GREE puts wiring at the top of the list: the wrong cable type, a splice in the communication wire, or wires crossed between the units. A miswired add-on in the circuit, like a condensate pump, float switch or disconnect, can also break the signal. GREE warns against assuming a bad board until the wiring has been checked.
Compatible models
GREE's E6 guide is written for its single-zone and multi-zone mini-splits and also mentions service tools for MultiPRO and FLEXX R32 systems. Board voltages differ between 115V and 230V models.
Also shown as
GREE says that if E6 shows the moment the system powers up, the problem is more likely on the indoor side. If it shows 3 to 4 minutes after power-on, look at the outdoor side.
Difficulty
Start with the safe checks below; a worn part may need replacing.

How to fix Gree E6
Time the code
After the 10-minute reset, watch how long it takes for E6 to come back. Right at power-up or 3 to 4 minutes in tells the technician which unit to start with.
Mention any recent changes
If a condensate pump, float switch or new disconnect was added, or the system was just installed, tell the installer. GREE says a wrong wire or a splice causes this code more often than a failed part.
When to call a technician
If E6 returns, call a GREE dealer or HVAC technician. Checking the communication circuit means measuring voltages at the terminals with the power on.

Frequently asked questions
Which Gree models show the E6 code?
GREE's E6 guide is written for its single-zone and multi-zone mini-splits and also mentions service tools for MultiPRO and FLEXX R32 systems. Board voltages differ between 115V and 230V models.
Can I fix Gree E6 myself?
Often. The first steps above are safe checks a homeowner can do. If they don't clear E6, the cause is likely a worn part that needs replacing.
