On models with indicator lights instead of a code display, a flashing Drain light means water stayed in the cabinet after a drain. A dirty filter, something stuck in the drain pump, or a kinked or clogged drain hose is behind it.
Compatible models

How to fix Miele Drain indicator flashing
Clean the filter combination
Switch the dishwasher off, turn the filter handle back and lift it out. Rinse off food and brush away grease, open the flap inside to rinse the fine mesh, then refit it flat and turn the handle forward until the arrows line up.
Check the pump under the non-return valve
Unplug the machine first. Bail out the water, unclip the non-return valve and rinse it, then look in the pump for a pit or glass shard. The impeller should turn by hand with slight resistance.
Check the drain hose
With the machine still unplugged, follow the drain hose from the back of the cabinet to the sink connection. Straighten any loops or kinks and clear buildup at the sink end. Pull the dishwasher out only if you can do it without straining the hoses.
When to call a technician
If the light keeps flashing after the filter, pump and hose are clean, book Miele Service.
