Samsung Dryer C1 Error Code
Vent test could not run. Here is what it means and how to clear it, easiest fix first.
These are vent blockage test results that mean the test could not run properly rather than a clog. C1 or CL1 means laundry was detected in the drum. Ct means the dryer is too cold (below freezing) or too warm (above 104°F (40°C)) to test accurately.
Also shown as CL1. Ct is listed with the same group of test results.
How to fix Samsung C1
Empty the drum
For C1 or CL1, remove all laundry and any racks from the drum and run the vent test again.
Let the dryer reach room temperature
For Ct, let the dryer sit at normal room temperature for about an hour, then run the test again.
When to call a technician
If C1 appears with an empty drum, or Ct continues in a normal-temperature room, book a repair.

Frequently asked questions
What does C1 mean on a Samsung dryer?
These are vent blockage test results that mean the test could not run properly rather than a clog. C1 or CL1 means laundry was detected in the drum. Ct means the dryer is too cold (below freezing) or too warm (above 104°F (40°C)) to test accurately.
Can I fix Samsung C1 myself?
Usually, yes. Most C1 problems clear with simple checks you can do at home. Start with the first step above: empty the drum.
What if C1 keeps coming back?
A code that returns after a reset and the checks above usually means a part is wearing out. Note when C1 appears (which cycle, how often) and have your model number ready; it helps a technician bring the right part on the first visit.
