Samsung Dryer oD Error Code
Dry time too long. Here is what it means and how to clear it, easiest fix first.
The cycle has run longer than the dryer allows without the clothes reaching dry. A blocked vent, an oversized or very wet load, or dirty or faulty moisture sensor bars are common reasons. Long, hot cycles from a clogged vent also raise the fire risk.
Samsung lists oD among its "other" errors. Parts guides link it to the moisture sensor bar and its wiring.
How to fix Samsung oD
Clean the lint screen and check the vent
Clean the lint screen and make sure air blows strongly out of the outside vent when the dryer runs. If airflow is weak, clean the exhaust hose and duct.
Clean the moisture sensor bars
Unplug the dryer and wipe the two metal sensor strips inside the drum, near the lint screen, with a damp cloth to remove softener or dryer-sheet residue.
Check the load
Make sure the washer is spinning clothes properly and avoid overloading the dryer. Restart the dryer after 2 to 3 minutes off.
When to call a technician
If the vent and sensors are clean and the code returns, book a repair so the moisture sensor and its wiring can be tested.
Parts that commonly cause oD
- moisture sensor bars
- wire harness
- exhaust duct
Order parts by your exact model number so they fit.

Frequently asked questions
What does oD mean on a Samsung dryer?
The cycle has run longer than the dryer allows without the clothes reaching dry. A blocked vent, an oversized or very wet load, or dirty or faulty moisture sensor bars are common reasons. Long, hot cycles from a clogged vent also raise the fire risk.
Can I fix Samsung oD myself?
Often. The first steps above are safe checks a homeowner can do. If they don't clear oD, the cause is likely a worn part that needs replacing.
What if oD keeps coming back?
A code that returns after a reset and the checks above usually means a part is wearing out. Note when oD appears (which cycle, how often) and have your model number ready; it helps a technician bring the right part on the first visit.
