LG Refrigerator Er FF Error Code
Freezer fan is blocked or not running. Here is what it means and how to clear it, easiest fix first.
The freezer fan motor is not running normally. In most cases frost or ice has formed around the fan and stopped it turning, typically because the freezer is overloaded or a door was left slightly open. If there is no frost at all, the fan motor itself may have failed.
Also shown as E FF or just F on some displays.
How to fix LG Er FF
Try a power reset
Unplug the refrigerator or switch off its breaker for about 5 minutes, then restore power. If the code clears and stays away, keep an eye on it.
Empty the fridge and prepare for meltwater
Move food to another refrigerator or an insulated cooler, empty the ice bin, and lay dry towels on the floor in front of the doors.
Defrost with the power off and doors open
Unplug the refrigerator and leave both freezer and fridge doors wide open for at least 24 hours. LG says it can take about a day in summer and up to three days in winter, depending on how much ice there is. Let the ice melt naturally: do not use a hair dryer or heat gun, which can warp plastic parts or start a fire, and do not chip ice with knives or other sharp tools.
Dry, restart and check the doors
Wipe the interior dry, plug the fridge back in and allow 24 to 48 hours for it to reach normal temperatures. Avoid overpacking the freezer and check that the doors close and seal fully.
When to call a technician
If Er FF returns after a full defrost, or there was no frost on the freezer walls to begin with, request service; the fan motor or defrost system likely needs a technician.

Frequently asked questions
What does Er FF mean on a LG refrigerator?
The freezer fan motor is not running normally. In most cases frost or ice has formed around the fan and stopped it turning, typically because the freezer is overloaded or a door was left slightly open. If there is no frost at all, the fan motor itself may have failed.
Can I fix LG Er FF myself?
Often. The first steps above are safe checks a homeowner can do. If they don't clear Er FF, the cause is likely a worn part that needs replacing.
What if Er FF keeps coming back?
A code that returns after a reset and the checks above usually means a part is wearing out. Note when Er FF appears (which cycle, how often) and have your model number ready; it helps a technician bring the right part on the first visit.
