LG Washer IE Error Code
Washer isn't filling with water. Here is what it means and how to clear it, easiest fix first.
The washer did not reach the water level it needed within the allowed time. This is usually a supply problem, such as a faucet that is closed or only partly open, a pinched inlet hose, a clogged inlet screen, or low household water pressure. In winter, a frozen faucet or hose can also cause it.
Appears on all LG washer types. Some displays show it alongside a No Water Supply message.
How to fix LG IE
Open both faucets fully
Check that the hot and cold supply valves behind the washer are turned all the way on (counterclockwise) and that both hoses are firmly attached. Confirm other faucets in the house have normal water flow.
Straighten the inlet hoses
Look for hoses that are crushed against the wall or bent sharply. If a hose is badly kinked, shut off the faucet, disconnect it, straighten it and reattach it hand-tight plus a small turn.
Clean the inlet filter screens
Shut off both faucets, unplug the washer and keep a towel handy for drips. Unscrew the hoses at the back of the washer, gently pull the small mesh screens out with needle-nose pliers, rinse off sand or rust, and reinstall them before reconnecting the hoses.
Thaw frozen lines
If the laundry area dropped below freezing, disconnect the supply hose and wrap the faucet in a towel soaked in hot tap water for about 5 minutes. Thaw the hose in warm water no hotter than about 122°F (50°C), and don't reattach it until no ice is left inside.
When to call a technician
If water pressure in the home is normal and the screens are clean but the washer still won't fill, the water inlet valve is likely faulty and should be replaced by a technician. For low whole-house pressure, call a plumber.

Frequently asked questions
What does IE mean on a LG washer?
The washer did not reach the water level it needed within the allowed time. This is usually a supply problem, such as a faucet that is closed or only partly open, a pinched inlet hose, a clogged inlet screen, or low household water pressure. In winter, a frozen faucet or hose can also cause it.
Can I fix LG IE myself?
Usually, yes. Most IE problems clear with simple checks you can do at home. Start with the first step above: open both faucets fully.
What if IE keeps coming back?
A code that returns after a reset and the checks above usually means a part is wearing out. Note when IE appears (which cycle, how often) and have your model number ready; it helps a technician bring the right part on the first visit.
