LG Washer OE Error Code
Water won't drain. Here is what it means and how to clear it, easiest fix first.
The washer could not pump the water out of the tub in the time it expected. The usual culprits are a kinked or clogged drain hose or a drain pump filter packed with lint, coins or small items. Heavy suds can also cause it by making the pump pull air instead of water.
Shown on front-load, top-load, wash tower and SideKick pedestal models. On front-loaders the drain pump filter sits behind a small access door at the bottom front.
How to fix LG OE
Check the drain hose
Pull the washer out far enough to see the hose behind it and straighten any kinks or sharp bends. Make sure the hose is not jammed too far down the standpipe and is free of clogs. Then run a Spin Only or Drain cycle to see if the water leaves.
Listen for the pump
Run a high-speed spin-only cycle and listen near the bottom of the machine. A steady hum means the pump has power and is likely just blocked; silence suggests the pump itself may have failed.
Clean the drain pump filter
Unplug the washer and lay towels and a shallow pan in front of it. If a hot cycle just ran, give the water time to cool first. On front-loaders, open the lower access panel, unclip the short drain tube, pull its cap and let the water run slowly into the pan. Then turn the filter counterclockwise to remove it, rinse off the debris, brush out the opening, and refit the cap, tube and filter securely.
Run a cleaning cycle and cut back on detergent
Plug the washer back in and run a Tub Clean cycle to clear residue. If suds may have triggered the code, use only HE detergent and measure less of it on future loads.
When to call a technician
If the pump stays silent during a spin test or the code keeps coming back after the hose and filter are clear, the drain pump or its wiring likely needs service.

Frequently asked questions
What does OE mean on a LG washer?
The washer could not pump the water out of the tub in the time it expected. The usual culprits are a kinked or clogged drain hose or a drain pump filter packed with lint, coins or small items. Heavy suds can also cause it by making the pump pull air instead of water.
Can I fix LG OE myself?
Often. The first steps above are safe checks a homeowner can do. If they don't clear OE, the cause is likely a worn part that needs replacing.
What if OE keeps coming back?
A code that returns after a reset and the checks above usually means a part is wearing out. Note when OE appears (which cycle, how often) and have your model number ready; it helps a technician bring the right part on the first visit.
