Samsung Washer 4C2 Error Code
Hot and cold hoses are reversed. Here is what it means and how to clear it, easiest fix first.
The washer is reading hot water on the line that should be supplying cold. In nearly every case the two fill hoses are attached to the wrong inlets on the back of the machine, and no repair parts are needed.
Also shown as 4E2, nF1, CE, or 14C2 on some models. On some top-load models nF1 is listed as a general water supply error instead, so if your hoses are already correct, follow the 4C (not filling) steps too.
How to fix Samsung 4C2
Turn off the water and unplug the washer
Close both supply faucets behind the washer and unplug the power cord. Have a bucket and towel ready because a little water will spill when hoses come off.
Swap the hoses to the correct inlets
Connect the hot supply to the inlet marked hot (usually red) and the cold supply to the inlet marked cold (usually blue). Tighten by hand, then about a quarter turn more with pliers.
Test with a cold cycle
Open both faucets, check the connections for drips, plug the washer back in, and run a short cold-water cycle to confirm the code is gone. If the hoses were already correct, the hot and cold lines may be swapped at the faucets in your home plumbing; a plumber can confirm this.
When to call a technician
If the hoses and your home's supply lines are definitely connected correctly and the code still appears, the inlet valve or temperature sensing may be faulty and a technician should diagnose it.

Frequently asked questions
What does 4C2 mean on a Samsung washer?
The washer is reading hot water on the line that should be supplying cold. In nearly every case the two fill hoses are attached to the wrong inlets on the back of the machine, and no repair parts are needed.
Can I fix Samsung 4C2 myself?
Usually, yes. Most 4C2 problems clear with simple checks you can do at home. Start with the first step above: turn off the water and unplug the washer.
What if 4C2 keeps coming back?
A code that returns after a reset and the checks above usually means a part is wearing out. Note when 4C2 appears (which cycle, how often) and have your model number ready; it helps a technician bring the right part on the first visit.
