Samsung Washer UB Error Code
Load is unbalanced. Here is what it means and how to clear it, easiest fix first.
The washer cannot spin because the clothes have bunched to one side of the drum. This is common with a single heavy item, a very small load, or tangled sheets and blankets. If the code shows up even with well-spread loads, the washer may not be level or a suspension part may be worn.
Also shown as Ub, UE, U6, 1 Ub, or 1U6. Some models show lowercase dc for an unbalanced load, but on other models dc is a door error, so check your manual. Ur means the washer is rebalancing and retrying the spin on its own and is not a fault.
How to fix Samsung UB
Rearrange the load
Pause or cancel the cycle and let the door unlock. Untangle the laundry and spread it evenly around the drum, then close the door and press Start.
Fix the load size
A tiny load can bunch up on one side of the drum, so add a few similar items or choose a lower spin speed. Wash bulky items like comforters on their own or with a couple of towels. Skip items Samsung warns against, such as floor mats, pillows, and pet beds.
Level the washer
Unplug the washer first. Push on each top corner; the cabinet should sit firmly with no rocking. On front-load models, loosen the lock nuts on the feet, turn each foot to adjust height, and retighten the nuts. Leave about an inch of space around the cabinet, then plug it back in and run a small test load.
When to call a technician
If the code keeps appearing with balanced loads on a level washer, or the tub bangs loudly during spin, the shock absorbers, suspension rods, or springs may be worn and a technician should inspect them. Your manual may also describe a Calibration mode to run with the drum empty; if the tub will not spin during calibration, request service.

Frequently asked questions
What does UB mean on a Samsung washer?
The washer cannot spin because the clothes have bunched to one side of the drum. This is common with a single heavy item, a very small load, or tangled sheets and blankets. If the code shows up even with well-spread loads, the washer may not be level or a suspension part may be worn.
Can I fix Samsung UB myself?
Usually, yes. Most UB problems clear with simple checks you can do at home. Start with the first step above: rearrange the load.
What if UB keeps coming back?
A code that returns after a reset and the checks above usually means a part is wearing out. Note when UB appears (which cycle, how often) and have your model number ready; it helps a technician bring the right part on the first visit.
