Bosch Dishwasher E15 Error Code
Water detected in the base (leak protection). Here is what it means and how to clear it, easiest fix first.
A float switch in the base pan under the tub has detected water, so the leak protection system has stepped in and the dishwasher won't run normally. The water can come from a leaking hose or connection, a worn seal, or suds escaping the tub.
Newer US models with four-digit codes show E3100 for the same fault. UK and EU models use E15 as well. Clearing the code does not fix the leak that caused it.
How to fix Bosch E15
Turn off the water and power
Close the dishwasher's water supply valve, usually under the kitchen sink. If water has reached the floor near the outlet or cord, switch off the breaker rather than touching the plug; otherwise switch off the breaker or unplug the unit.
Look for the leak
Check the floor and the area under the sink for water. Follow the inlet and drain hoses as far as you can reach and look for kinks, cracks, drips, or loose fittings. A visibly damaged hose can be replaced with the correct part for your model.
Rule out a suds overflow
Hand dishwashing soap or too much detergent can make foam that escapes the tub and trips the float. If that is what happened, wipe out the foam and use only detergent made for dishwashers from now on.
Let the base dry, then reset
Leave the dishwasher switched off with the water closed long enough for water trapped in the base to dry out; overnight is a sensible wait. Then restore water and power and run a short empty cycle. If E15 comes back, there is still a leak that needs finding.
When to call a technician
If you can't see where the water is coming from, or E15 returns after the base has dried, book a technician. Finding the leak usually means removing the lower panels and checking internal hoses and seals.

Frequently asked questions
What does E15 mean on a Bosch dishwasher?
A float switch in the base pan under the tub has detected water, so the leak protection system has stepped in and the dishwasher won't run normally. The water can come from a leaking hose or connection, a worn seal, or suds escaping the tub.
Can I fix Bosch E15 myself?
Often. The first steps above are safe checks a homeowner can do. If they don't clear E15, the cause is likely a worn part that needs replacing.
What if E15 keeps coming back?
A code that returns after a reset and the checks above usually means a part is wearing out. Note when E15 appears (which cycle, how often) and have your model number ready; it helps a technician bring the right part on the first visit.
