LG Dryer Add Error Code

Add water for steam. Here is what it means and how to clear it, easiest fix first.

Add
Easy DIY fix

On steam models, the dryer needs water in its steam feeder before it can run a steam cycle. The feeder is empty, low, or the drawer is not fully closed.

Only on LG dryers with a steam feeder drawer.

Safety first: unplug the dryer (or switch off its breaker) before touching filters, hoses or panels. If you smell burning or gas, or see water near the outlet, stop and call a professional.

How to fix LG Add

  1. Fill the steam feeder

Press Pause, open the steam feeder drawer and fill it with tap water up to the MAX line. LG advises against distilled water. Close the drawer completely.

  2. Restart the steam cycle

Turn the dryer off and back on, select the steam cycle again and press Start/Pause.

When to call a technician

If the message stays on with a full feeder and a closed drawer, the steam system needs service.

On steam models, the dryer needs water in its steam feeder before it can run a steam cycle. The feeder is empty, low, or the drawer is not fully closed.

Can I fix LG Add myself?

Usually, yes. Most Add problems clear with simple checks you can do at home. Start with the first step above: fill the steam feeder.

What if Add keeps coming back?

A code that returns after a reset and the checks above usually means a part is wearing out. Note when Add appears (which cycle, how often) and have your model number ready; it helps a technician bring the right part on the first visit.
