LG Dryer LE Error Code

Drum or motor not turning properly. Here is what it means and how to clear it, easiest fix first.

LE
May need a pro

The control has detected that the motor is struggling or the drum is not turning as it should. An overloaded drum, something jammed near the drum, a power supply problem, or a motor or wiring fault can cause it.

May appear as LE, LE1 or LE2 depending on the model. A parts guide describes LE1 as the motor not starting or running properly and LE2 as low current detected. LG's own support pages list these codes without explaining them, so check your owner's manual.

Safety first: unplug the dryer (or switch off its breaker) before touching filters, hoses or panels. If you smell burning or gas, or see water near the outlet, stop and call a professional.

How to fix LG LE

  1. Reduce the load

Unplug the dryer, take out some of the clothes and check for anything caught between the drum and the door or front seal. Avoid overloading, especially with heavy items like comforters or towels.

  2. Reset

Leave the dryer unplugged or the breaker off for at least a minute, then restore power and try a cycle.

When to call a technician

If the drum still will not turn or the code returns with a normal load, the motor or its wiring needs to be checked by a technician.

Frequently asked questions

What does LE mean on a LG dryer?

The control has detected that the motor is struggling or the drum is not turning as it should. An overloaded drum, something jammed near the drum, a power supply problem, or a motor or wiring fault can cause it.

Can I fix LG LE myself?

Only the basic checks. You can safely try the steps above, but LE usually points to a part or fault that needs a technician.

What if LE keeps coming back?

A code that returns after a reset and the checks above usually means a part is wearing out. Note when LE appears (which cycle, how often) and have your model number ready; it helps a technician bring the right part on the first visit.
