Maytag Dryer ERR Error Code
Door isn't closed and latched on Maytag dryers.
The dryer won't run because it can't tell the door is latched. Maytag points out that a door can look shut without being latched, and some models have an upper and a lower latch that both have to catch.
Compatible models
Maytag doesn't publish a model list for this code; it notes some models have both upper and lower latches.
Also shown as
Maytag lists ERR as a door code. Its reset for ERR uses a longer 5-minute power-down.
Difficulty
Most people can clear this one at home with simple checks.

How to fix Maytag ERR
Push the door shut firmly
Tuck any sleeve or towel corner back into the drum and press the door closed until it clicks. On a model with two latches, press near the top and the bottom.
Look at the latch
Unplug the dryer and check the latch hook and the catch on the cabinet for lint, a bent tab or a jammed piece of fabric. Clean it out by hand.
Power down for 5 minutes
Turn off the breaker(s) for 5 minutes, turn them back on, start Timed Dry and watch the dryer for 5 minutes.
When to call a technician
If the door is clearly latched and ERR won't go away, the door switch or latch has likely failed and needs replacing. Never tape down or bypass a door switch to get the dryer running.
