Maytag Dryer F3 E2 Error Code
Moisture sensor failure on Maytag dryers.
The two metal sensor bars in the drum tell the control how wet the clothes are. F3 E2 means the control isn't getting a usable signal from them. Sears PartsDirect's first check is for metal shorting across the bars, then the wiring harness.
Compatible models
Maytag Centennial (F3 E2) and Maytag Bravos (F-28, F29) dryers, per Sears PartsDirect.
Also shown as
Maytag Bravos dryers show F-28 or F29 for a moisture sensor failure.
Difficulty
Start with the safe checks below; a worn part may need replacing.

How to fix Maytag F3 E2
Look for metal on the bars
Unplug the dryer and check the sensor bars, usually two curved strips near the lint screen opening. Remove any coin, bobby pin or zipper pull touching both strips.
Clean the bars
Wipe them with a soft cloth dampened with a little rubbing alcohol to take off fabric softener film. Let them dry before restoring power.
Dry a normal-sized load
A single shirt can tumble for a long time without brushing the bars. Run a regular load before deciding the sensor has failed.
When to call a technician
If the bars are clean and clear and the code keeps showing, a technician should check the sensor harness and the sensor itself.
