About Amana washer error codes
Amana is an American appliance brand owned by Whirlpool Corporation. Many Amana washers share engineering with Whirlpool models, so code formats are often similar, but always check the code against your own model.
How to read Amana washer codes
Amana front-loaders show most faults as a pair: an F number and an E number. Write down both parts, because F8 E1 (not enough water) and F8 E3 (too much water or foam) need very different fixes. A few codes like Err, Int, LoC and Fd are status messages, so nothing is broken when they show up.
For most codes Amana's first reset is a power cut: unplug the washer (or switch off its breaker) for 5 minutes, then plug it back in and start a fresh cycle. If water is on the floor near the outlet, use the breaker and leave the plug alone.
If a code comes back after the checks on its page, Amana's next step is a service visit. Have your full model number handy when you book.
Of the 15 codes on this page, 14 usually have a simple fix you can do yourself, and 0 usually need a technician. Each guide says which is which, so you don't pay for a service call you don't need, and you don't attempt a repair that isn't safe.
Before you start
- Write down your model number. It's on a sticker, usually inside the door or lid, on the frame, or on the back or side panel. Parts and some code meanings depend on it.
- Try a reset. Unplug the washer or switch off its breaker for 10 minutes. This clears many one-off glitches without tools.
- Keep a towel and a shallow pan nearby. Many fixes involve water left in the drum or drain pump.
