Maytag Washer Sud Error Code
Too many suds on Maytag washers.
Excess suds, so the washer is running a suds-reduction routine that can pause the cycle and stretch out the rinses. Regular (non-HE) detergent, too much HE detergent or thickened 'no splash' chlorine bleach is the usual cause.
Compatible models
Maytag front-loaders and top-loaders both show it; Sears PartsDirect lists it as F0 E2 on the Bravos and Centennial VMW top-loaders.
Also shown as
Shown as Sud, Sd or 5d depending on the display.
Difficulty
Most people can clear this one at home with simple checks.

How to fix Maytag Sud
Let the washer finish
Don't cancel. The washer adds rinsing and may pause tumbling, sometimes more than once, until the suds clear, so expect a long cycle.
Cut back on detergent
Use only HE detergent and dose by the label for load size and soil level. 2x, 4x and 8x concentrates each need a different amount. If you use pacs, save the large ones for big or heavily soiled loads.
Switch bleach type
'No splash' or 'easy pour' chlorine bleach contains thickeners that foam. Switch to regular liquid bleach.
Check the drain hose
A kinked or partly blocked drain hose or standpipe also lets suds build up. Straighten the hose and make sure the drain is clear.
When to call a technician
The right detergent in small amounts and Sud still showing: have a technician check the drain system.
