How to fix Maytag HC
Turn off the water and unplug
Close both supply valves and unplug the washer before you touch the hoses.
Swap the hoses
With a bucket and towel ready, unscrew the hoses and reconnect them so the hot (often red) hose runs from the hot valve and the cold (often blue) from the cold. Tighten snugly by hand, turn the water back on and check for drips.
Run a test cycle
Plug in and run a cycle to confirm HC doesn't come back.
When to call a technician
Hoses definitely on the right valves and HC still showing: a technician should check the inlet temperature sensing.
