Midea Air Conditioner EC 54 Error Code
Compressor discharge sensor fault on Midea air conditioners.
MideaAll Midea air conditioner codes
Midea puts a sensor (T5) on the hot discharge pipe coming off the compressor. EC 54 means that sensor is open, shorted, or reading nonsense, so the board can't protect the compressor from overheating.
Compatible models
Midea split-system outdoor units that use the four-character codes. Check your manual, since no model list exists.
Also shown as
Older displays read F3. Midea's Taiwan list also has EC 56, a sensor fault on the evaporator outlet pipe found on multi-zone outdoor units.
Difficulty
Try the basic checks, but the usual fix is a technician's job.

How to fix Midea EC 54
Stop after one restart
If EC 54 comes back within minutes of a full power-off, don't keep resetting. The compressor runs without its overheat protection while this sensor is down.
Keep clear of the compressor area
The discharge pipe gets very hot and sits next to the compressor wiring. This one is for a technician.
When to call a technician
Repeated EC 54 means the sensor or its plug on the outdoor board needs attention from a technician.
